Grueby Pottery & Tile Co tile depicting a turtle from the frieze design in their famous heavily curdled matte green, blue, tan, and light green glazes. It measures 6 inches square and about 1 inch thick. (11 7/8" square framed) Unmarked. It is in great condition with only 2 old chip repairs to corners,and no other chips or cracks, just some glaze bubbles to the dark blue turtle's back. The top edge is glazed for installation at wainscot height probably from the "Dreamwold" estate bathroom of Thomas Lawson in Scituate Massachusetts. Framed in a custom arts & crafts oak frame. A really nice example from Boston's famous Arts & Crafts Art Pottery.
