Grueby Pottery rare gourd form vase with a bulbous bottom, flared lip, and iris flowers under the rim. It is covered in an even curdled matte green glaze, perfectly executed to highlight the tooled design. It measures 13 3/4 inches tall and 8 1/2 inches in diameter at the widest. It is in great condition with no chips, cracks, or firing flaws, just a small side cord hole restoration from prior use as a lamp base. Marked with the Grueby Pottery Co Boston USA die-stamp, the incised decorator initials RE for Ruth Erickson, and two original paper labels. An excellent example of the quintessential Arts & Crafts New England art pottery.
