Marblehead Pottery fruit decorated matte green vase
Marblehead Pottery fruit decorated matte green vase
Marblehead Pottery vase designed by Arthur Hennessey and decorated by Sarah Tutt. The design of fruit with leaves and stems, possibly apple, is incised and has at least four colors against the background glaze of olive green color which is usually only seen on early pieces. It measures 4 1/2 inches tall and 3 3/4 inches in diameter at the widest. This is a taller form than the typical small vase shape. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs, just a little run to the glaze at the rim. It is marked with the MP die-stamp ship mark and designer and decorator initials HT, and it dates from around 1915. A very nice piece of New England Arts & Crafts art pottery.
