Merrimac Pottery tall ovoid shaped vase with two nub handles. Covered in their signature semi matte, curdled and feathered green glaze which drips on the inside over the amber clear interior glaze. It measures 12 7/8 inches tall and about 7 1/2 inches in diameter. Marked twice with their die-stamped sturgeon mark and the paper label. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or firing flaws or repairs. Merrimac used a wide variety of glazes, as many as the Grueby or Walley Potteries to whom the work is often compared. The pottery was located in Newburyport Massachusetts and only made art pottery from 1900 to 1908. A beautiful piece of New England Arts & Crafts era art pottery.
