Newcomb College Pottery bulbous vase decorated with a day scene landscape of moss laden oak trees and purple tree horizon in their signature matte blue and green glazes. Well carved with good contrast and color. It measures 3 1/4 inches tall and 3 1/8 inches in diameter at the widest. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, repairs, or firing flaws. Marked with the firm's die-stamped NC mark, a conjoined SI for artist Sadie Irvine, date code JE45 for 1917, and JM for potter Joseph Meyer. A fine example of the quintessential Arts & Crafts southern art pottery.
