Newcomb College Pottery transitional vase decorated with repeating iris flowers and spike leaves on a tall bulbous bottom form. Carved by Anna Frances Simpson and glazed in their matte blue and green glazes with good relief and contrast. It measures 8 1/4 inches tall and 4 7/8 inches in diameter at the widest. It is in great condition with no chips, cracks, firing flaws, or repairs. Marked with the firm's die-stamped NC mark, AFS for the artist, possibly a faint JM for the potter, and date code HU46 for 1916.
