Charles Volkmar Kilns ceramic tile. It is impasto glaze painted depicting a branching green leafed tree against a blue sky. The tile measures 8 inches square and about 5/8 inch thick (13 3/4 inches square framed). Signed Chas Volkmar on the face and done on a United States Encaustic Tile Co Indianapolis Indiana blank. Possibly from the Brooklyn NY period. It is in great condition with no chips, cracks, firing flaws, or repairs. A good arts & crafts pictorial tile by a lesser known maker.
