Clewell copper-clad pottery baluster form vase. This vase measures 14 3/4 inches tall and 7 inches in diameter at the widest. It is in great condition with no cracks, chips, or repairs, just some scattered flaking patina loss. Marked on the bottom Clewell hand incised with 378-2-6.Charles Walter Clewell developed a "secret" method for sheathing pottery vases with copper at his Canton Ohio studio beginning in 1906. By the 1920's he developed a technique to stabilize patinas, copper red and matte blue green verdigris. Often the blanks are identifiable from various Ohio potteries, Weller, Owens, Ferrock, etc.
