Denver Denaura Pottery gourd shaped vase decorated with art nouveau nasturtiums in relief around the top, with stems descending to the base. Covered in a semi-transparent matte green glaze, it measures 5 1/4 inches tall and 6 inches in diameter at the widest. It is in great condition with no chips,cracks, repairs, or firing flaws, just a little crazing. Well marked on the bottom with die-stamped marks, 172, and hand incised Denaura Denver U.S.A. William Long founder of the Lonhuda Faience pottery of Steubenville Ohio, began operations in Colorado in 1901 within weeks of the Van Briggle pottery. He left in 1905 for Newark NJ where he started the Clifton pottery. He also worked at Weller and Roseville. An unusual piece by a lesser known arts & crafts period pottery.
