Van Briggle Pottery rare early vase with a bi-color matte green glaze. It is Artus Van Briggle’s shape number 2, designed in 1900 and called "Poppies and Pods". It measures 7 7/8 inches tall. Marked with the firm's double AA box mark, Roman numeral III for the clay, and the date, 1902. It is in excellent condition with only a small in the making stilt pull at the foot filled in and no other chips, cracks, firing flaws, or repairs. A great glaze on an early, dated vase from the famous Colorado Springs art pottery.
