Van Briggle Pottery rare early vase with a purple matte over a sky blue bi-color glaze. It is number 202 in the shape book, designed in 1903, and the design is called "Stylized leaves". It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, firing flaws, or repairs. It measures 9 3/4 inches tall and 5 1/4 inches in diameter at the widest. Marks include the firm's double AA box mark, shape number 202, and the date, 1903, and the Roman numeral III for the clay. A great glaze on an early, dated vase from the famous Colorado Springs art pottery.
